Announcing our short story competition winner

The Editors of Helen: A Literary Magazine are pleased to announce the winner of our first short story competition is Robert Moulthrop’s “Friends in Need.”

Our judge Shelly King had this to say about Moulthrop’s story:

“I always love stories where the author chooses such interesting details that add to the characters. ‘Friends in Need’ is such a story. Details like lining up sugar cubes between a fork and knife in a bar or the small faults of a lover’s body after sex added so much to drawing the picture of this intriguing story. Brava!”

Moulthrop will receive a $100 cash prize and possible publication in our inaugural issue.
